Spoiled Kids?

Are we raising spoiled kids?

Sometimes, when I can’t walk through the house without tripping over a kid gadget, I worry that we may be spoiling the kids. It’s something that I I think about a lot now that the kids are getting to an age and need to appreciate a dollar and develop a work ethic. I have always thought that the kids doing well in school was their main and only job. But, now that I’m looking at extremely messy rooms and receiving little help around the house should I expect more? Because you get all A’s does that give you a free pass to do what you want? I say no! I’m starting to see two kids that are a little lazy and spoiled. In an effort to correct this, I’ve given them each daily chores. I also been focusing on this topic for our family dinner conversations and family movie night. This past weekend we all watched “The Pursuit of Happyness”. They say a picture is worth 1000 words well this film drove home what I’ve been trying to teach them. It hit on exactly what I was trying to emphasize to them on how good they have it and nothing replaces hard work and passion. If you are struggling with any of these issues I highly recommend this movie, it’s rated PG-13 so it will not be for young kids. Make sure you watch with your kids, me and my husband really enjoyed it as well!
